VHHS Student Announcements

W. C. McDaniel will be on campus taking letter jacket orders on Thursday, September 11th from 10:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Ordering information is available with the front office. A deposit is due on order day.

Applications for Vestavia Belles, official junior hostesses for the City of Vestavia Hills, are open until THIS FRIDAY, September 12th! Sophomore and Junior candidates have the opportunity to apply online by visiting https://vhal.org/community/vestavia-belles/. Paper copies are also available in the City Administrative office on the 2nd floor of City Hall, or by download on the Vestavia Belle page. If you love acting, performance, writing, and poetry, you should consider participating in the VHHS Poetry Out Loud competition. This opportunity is open to 9-12 graders. Any interested 10th-12th grade students should attend one of the two informational meetings on Tuesday, September 9 at EITHER 7:45 a.m. OR 3:30 p.m. in Mrs. Robinson's room (H256) at the Main Campus. 9th grade students should contact Mrs. Deerman at the Freshman Campus for more information. To receive announcements about meetings, all interested students in grades 9-12 should join the Poetry Out Loud Google Classroom using code mg6iy2te.

The Youth Leadership 25-26 Kickoff Meeting will be Tuesday, September 16th at 7:40 a.m. in the Auditorium. This meeting is required for ALL current Youth Leadership Members. Anyone who is interested in joining Youth Leadership is encouraged to attend. Email Mrs. Sweeney if you have any questions (sweeneymv@vhcs.us) or come see Mrs. Sweeney or Mrs. Cooper in A241. Are you interested in writing for our school newspaper, the Pillar? If interested, join the Google Classroom with the code z3uw5eg. Our first meeting with be held on Wednesday, September 10th at 7:45 and 3:35 in Mr. Davis's room, H115.

The Counseling Office is excited to announce two campus tour opportunities. On September 18th, the College Counselors will be taking a group of students to visit Samford University and UAB. On October 2nd, the College Counselors will be taking a group of students to visit the University of Alabama & Mississippi State University. This opportunity is open to juniors and seniors. Pick up an application to attend from the Opportunities bin in the Counseling Office.

Make-up pictures are Sept 11 for sophomores and juniors. Seniors who have not taken portraits at Belmont Studio must take pictures and select a yearbook proof by October 1.

Students who would like to take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) Test, please stop by the Guidance Department and sign-up with Mrs. Tinney! Test Date is October 23 @ 8:30am. Test normally last 3 hours.

We are excited to share with you a project that will is beginning today - Monday, September 8th, 2025. VHHS is partnering with Grace Klein, a local food bank that serves food insecure families in our community. Grace Klein food barrels are available for you to drop off dry, shelf stable products.
