VESTAVIA HILLS HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELING PROGRAM MISSION
The mission of the comprehensive school counseling program at Vestavia Hills High School is to ensure equity and access for each individual student in provision of opportunities to develop socially and emotionally through understanding himself/herself and others; to develop his/her academic potential with information and support as needed; and to explore career opportunities that are consistent with his/her particular interests and aptitudes. Through a planned, sequential program of individual assessment, data analysis, provision of information, and individual and group counseling, each student is encouraged to learn without limits to maximize his/her potential academically, emotionally, and socially and to develop post-secondary plans for career development. Led by the counselors, the counseling program is an essential integrated component of the total school curriculum. Counselors advocate for students and collaborate with the administration, faculty, and support personnel to deliver the program. By staying with the same students, counselors get to know each student personally in order to help each student realize his/her goals.
VESTAVIA HILLS HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELING PROGRAM VISION
Having graduated college and career ready, all Vestavia Hills High School students are successful in their chosen post-secondary paths. Graduates are active learners who possess the ability to acquire the knowledge they need to meet their goals. Using essential social and emotional skills, graduates experience positive relationships with others and are engaged in their communities as productive citizens.
