2nd Semester Exam Information

2nd Semester Exam Information was shared with all students/families last week. All details can be found HERE. Please note that the first page is for 10/11 grades only; 12 grade information is the second page of the document. Please complete THIS FORM to provide parental permission for your child(ren) to check out early following exams.

ATTENTION SOPHOMORES!!!!
Class ring orders are due this Wednesday, April 23rd (7:30 am - 1:00 pm). Please remember your $80 deposit!

Would you like to start a new club for next school year? The New Club Proposal Form is now open and must be submitted by May 9th. Students are responsible for securing a faculty sponsor for their proposed clubs. The QR code can be found on the flyers in the hallways or with Mrs. Watkins in the library.

Help the Hills applications are open! Any students interested in joining Help the Hills for the 2025-2026 school year should join the Google Classroom page to complete the application. The application deadline will be Friday, April 25th.

Drone Academy Summer Camps - UAB School of Engineering will host week-long summer camps in June 2025. Camps will offer high school students opportunities to get hands on experience with computer-aided designing, 3D printing, electronics, and drone construction. 
Weeks: June 2-6, June 9-13, June 16-18, 20. Cost: $200 per student. 


FBI Birmingham: The Teen Academy program allows high school students an opportunity to get a comprehensive look into today’s FBI. Students are provided with several presentations on topics including terrorism, cybercrime, public corruption, polygraph exams, evidence response, SWAT, and day-to-day operations of a typical FBI office. Students also learn from special agents, intelligence analysts, language specialists, and professional staff about investigative tactics that include gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and assisting with cases. Application Process: (Please note the selection process is highly competitive, and not at all applicants will be selected) Selections of the final candidates are determined by FBI Birmingham. Candidates must meet the following criteria:
Rising 11th or 12th grade student
Live and/or work within the Division's jurisdiction
School and endorsing school official information
2.0 Unweighted GPA
Essay Submission
Agree to attend all sessions with no absences
Deadline: April 30

Attention Juniors who are interested in The University of North Carolina Chapel Hill - Morehead Cain is a scholarship that pays for tuition and room and board. Seeking students who embody their 4 pillars: leadership, character, scholarship and physical vigor. If you are interested in being nominated, please pick up a flyer in Guidance. 

It's time to start sending in pictures for the Senior Slide Show shown on Senior Day! Send pictures to vestaviaclassof2025@gmail.com. We ask that each senior only send in a max of 3 pictures, and try to pick group pictures so more people can be in the slideshow. Pictures can be from elementary school until now. Think sports, class parties, school dances, RISE, May Day Play Day, club events, or just friends hanging out. 
 

Opportunities/Scholarship Bin Announcements

The Dartmouth Bound Program will provide an opportunity for students to visit Hanover, N.H. during one of two possible session dates: July 20-23 or August 3-6. The College will cover travel expenses, housing, and meals for all participants.  The program is open to all rising high school seniors. We encourage students from underserved communities—including students who are the first in their families to attend college, students from low-income families, students from rural communities, and students from under-resourced high schools or who otherwise lack access or opportunity to programs or resources that would assist in preparing them for college—to apply.  An in-depth introduction to the enduring value of a liberal arts education through Dartmouth’s curriculum and faculty

Dual Enrollment Achievement Scholarship for Graduating Seniors - Deadline: June 1, 2025
Tuition and fees scholarship for up to 6 hours a semester for 6 semesters
Have a cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher at the end of their 1st semester of senior year, including JSCC coursework, Have 20 or higher composite ACT score. ACT scores must be on file with Admissions by the June 1st deadline, Successfully completed 6 or more credit hours in the JSCC Dual Enrollment program
