If you would like to join us as we read The Disengaged Teen, J. Anderson and R. Winthrop's insightful, practical, and perspective-shifting book on engagement, please fill out the form linked HERE. We will offer a few options for times to meet and discuss the book.

ATTENTION SENIOR PARENTS

Attention Senior Parents:

Destination College, our senior parent program, will be on Wednesday, August 27th at 12:00 PM at the Vestavia Hills Civic Center (Magnolia Room). The College Counselors will provide an overview of the college admissions process. Representatives from different universities will also be in attendance to answer questions. Here's how to purchase a senior ad in the 2025-26 VHHS Yearbook:
  • Print and complete the ad contract. The contract can also be found on the VHHS website under "Students and Families, For Parents"
  • Choose your favorite photos and download them to a flash drive.
  • Submit the contract, flash drive, and payment to the main desk at VHHS.
  • Please note that due dates are in August. See contract for specific dates.

Get your VHHS spirit car flags! Flags are $15 and may be purchased through the MySchoolBucks/School Store (link below) or in person at most events with cash/check/card. Flags may be picked up at the VHHS front desk (or on site if purchased in person at event).

 

VHHS Student Announcements

New announcements will be bold and italicized.

  • VHHS Softball Tryouts - August 25 - 28, 2025. Please join the Softball Google Classroom - 2f2etvs. All paperwork must be completed in DragonFly

  • Students who would like to take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) Test, please stop by the Guidance Department and sign-up with Mrs. Tinney! Test Date is October 23 @ 8:30am. Test normally last 3 hours. 

  • Come out to Taco Mama on Monday, August 25th to support the Math Team! Ten percent of sales will go to the math team between 5pm and 9pm. 

  • Applications for membership in Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society are now open. If eligible for membership, please complete the Google Form application found at this link: Rho Kappa Application 2025 Please review the requirements for membership below. Applications must be submitted no later than Friday, September 5. Any questions should be directed to Mrs. Maddox at maddoxav@vhcs.us. Rho Kappa Requirements:  4.0 overall GPA, Completion of 6 semesters Honors/AP level or 4 semesters of AP level Social Studies classes, Minimum B average in AP Social Studies classes, Minimum A average in Honors Social Studies classes, Enrollment in at least one AP level Social Studies class in Senior year, Completed Rho Kappa application, No discipline infractions or Honor Code violations

  • Students eligible to apply for Mu Alpha Theta, the math honor society, will have information posted on their math teacher's google classroom. Please note that applications are due September 2nd and this will be the only opportunity to apply this year. Please come by A235 and see Mrs. Hyde if you have any questions!

  • Students interested in competing on the VHHS Mock Trial Team should attend an interest meeting before or after school in H260, Mr. Sinnott's room, at 7:50 am or 3:35 pm, on Wednesday, August 20th, 2025.

  • Tryouts for the Vestavia Hills High School Men’s Soccer Team will be held August 25th through 28th from 4:00 to 5:30 PM at Sicard Hollow Sports Complex. All players must have a completed physical and have a DragonFly account in order to participate. If you have any questions or need more details, please see Coach Di Piazza in Room E148.

  • PSAT/NMSQT Test Preparation Class (Given October 28, 2025): Math Skills - Taught by Kay Tipton starting 9/25; Verbal Skills - Taught by Jennifer Cotney starting 9/23; location - VHHS; for more information, call Kay at (205) 837-8804 and click HERE.

  • Applications for Vestavia Belles, official junior hostesses for the City of Vestavia Hills will be available August 11-September 12, 2025! Sophomore and Junior candidates have the opportunity to apply online by visiting https://vhal.org/community/vestavia-belles/. Paper copies are also available in the City Administrative office on the 2nd floor of City Hall, or by download on the Vestavia Belle page. For qualifications and more information, please visit the link above. Deadline to apply is September 12, 2025.  Find us on Instagram @vestaviabelles!

A message from the VHHS Counseling Department:

For the 2025-2026 school year, we will advertise our scholarships and opportunities in a new way! 

We now have two live links that will be continuously updated throughout the year. We recommend that students and parents bookmark these pages for easy access. We will no longer individually list them in the weekly News to Know emails. We hope this new format will make information easier to find and keep things more organized. We will continue to list college visit information in the weekly email.
