    The VHHS Library is open Monday-Friday from 8:05-3:45.  

  • Library Hours: We are open Monday-Friday from 8:05 AM-3:45 PM.  We are closed on second and fourth Thursday mornings of the month for SGA meetings.

    Attendance: When arriving in the library during the school day, you are required to have completed green library pass and to sign into Librarytrac using the computers on the circulation desk.  You are required to stay in the library until the bell. Seniors have the privilege of not needing a pass during lunch, but they still must log in to Librarytrac upon entry.

    Cell Phones: Reminder the FOCUS Act requires all phones to be powered off and put away in a backpack or purse.  Phones will be confiscated, and you will be asked to return to class/study if in violation of this policy.

    Book Checkouts:  You may check out up to 4 books at a time; books are due back 3 weeks from checkout.  

    Renewals:  You may renew books for a second checkout if no one else has reserved or requested them. Please bring the book with you to renew it.

    Overdue Materials:  We send courtesy overdue reminders via email.  Although we do not charge library fines, please be prompt in returning materials.  To check if your book is overdue, you may login to Destiny and open the "My Info" tab.  You are responsible for paying for any lost or damaged books.

    Chromebooks: You are responsible for your device and having it with you and charged and daily. The cost of a replacement Chromebook is $350 and the charger is $25. Be sure to label your device with your name, so it can be easily identified.  Please NO Stickers! 

    Tech problems: If you have problem with your Chromebook, we can swap it for you in the library.  We have limited loaner devices, but if you need to borrow one, stop by BEFORE school and be prepared to leave your cell phone in exchange.  We do NOT loan out chargers, but we do have charging stations for chromebooks available in the library. Many teachers also have spare chargers.

    Printing:  Copies and computer printouts are 20 cents per page. Double-sided copies are 25 cents each. To print in color, please share your Google document to johnsonkk@vhcs.us or watkinsebwatkinseb@vhcs.us. Color copies are 50 cents per page.  

    Library Etiquette: No eating or drinking will be allowed in the library space. Although you may visit during your lunch, you cannot eat lunch in the library. Sorry-this is to protect the space from excess trash and critters.  

    Please do not move any of the library furniture or sit on the floor. You will be asked to leave the library if you cannot comply with these requests. 

    Please pick up after yourself.  Do not leave games out or trash on the tables.

Our Vision - In collaboration with the school’s learning community, Vestavia Hills High School's library media programs will be the center of teaching and learning by providing access to quality collections and technologies and by extending services beyond the library media center’s four walls and the school day.

 

VHHS Librarians

Mrs. Kimberly Johnson is a veteran history teacher and a librarian since 2019.  She is a native of New Orleans and moved to Alabama not long after Hurricane Katrina. Her husband, Steven, is also a teacher and soccer coach at VHHS.  Together they have three pets: Rosie and Ollie, two rescue mutts and Bucky, a cat. 

Mrs. Elisabeth Watkins is a former English teacher and served at both the main campus and freshman campus before beginning her librarian career in 2021.  She's a native of Tennessee and moved to attend college at the University of Alabama.  She worked with Teach for America before coming to teach at VHHS.  She enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and Golden Retriever, Gus.
